SCG – Beijing Great WheelSCG – 北京大摩天轮

The Beijing Great Wheel will easily be the world's largest Ferris wheel with a height of 208 metres. There will be 48 enclosed capsules. Each can accommodate up to 40 people. In one revolution over 1900 passengers will be able to enjoy a fantastic view of the city of Beijing including Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. A feasibility study is performed for the property developer to bring the project into preliminary design phase. Unlike a commonly seen feasibility study, quite some comprehensive engineering works are carried out in this project, which include complete FEA for global structural behaviour, detailed FEA for essential joints to examine the fatigue problem.
